Nick Knight - Charlotte Anstey

This morning Charlotte is having photographs of her collection taken. The theme of the photoshoot is "blood". Very mysterious lighting, lots of red props and an intimidating model. I have found one photograph in particular taken by Nick Knight and I would like to experiment with Lucy (the model) and see if I can create a similar shot.

The image below is of a girl leaning her head forward over a wooden stall, it's obvious to see she is bleeding. Her hair is covering her face and her hands are positioned near her eyes which suggests she is crying. Her long hair is draped over the stall drawing you to the reflection in the blood. The picture is very dark and attracts a lot of curiousity because of the attention to detail and the strong colours used creating a very powerful image.

Another photograph that I love is from a series called "The Apple of My Eye" taken by Eleanor Hardwick. She manages to produce such amazingly spontaneous and abstract images by taking her creativity to a new level. Her ability to create what she pictures in her mind is very well produced and this image in particular is distubingly beautiful. The model is innocently sitting pressing the red apple to her face. Her eyes are staring so far into space she is almost hypnotising me with her dramatic expression. Her hair, skin and clothes are very pale opposed to the deeply saturated red of the apple and her lips. The movement with her hand almost suggests that the apple has smeared the red upon her face.
